Neuroplasticity: The Key to Unlocking Ultimate Creativity

You’re probably familiar with (or at least heard of) Lumosity, a company that claims to give its clients personalized brain training. A word they love using when describing their product is neuroplasticity, but they never go into detail as to what neuroplasticity is and why you benefit from it.

Neuroplasticity is a process your brain goes through to create new connections within itself. These new connections will help you arrive at entirely new solutions that you hadn’t considered before! Typically this process only happens when your brain is relaxed, thus solving the mystery why so many of us come up with our best (or most creative!) thoughts in the middle of the night or in the shower.

Fast Company’s Work Smart blog published an article suggesting that there are some good habits that we can get into in order to foster neuroplasticity while we sleep. Some of these habits are as simple as light reading before bed, or asking yourself tough questions before going to sleep!

Unlike computers, our brains are always functioning, even while in sleep mode! As a result, it’s possible to be productive while sleeping, provided you take advantage of neuroplasticity.
