Fear gripped the world as news of more terrorism attacks made rounds this week. From the Manchester concert and Bangkok hospital bombings, to Marawi siege, the world mourns and condemns these acts of terrorism.
What was supposed to be a happy event for Ariana Grande fans in Manchester turned into a nightmare. 22 people lost lives while 120 were injured after the explosion on Monday, May 22, 2017. Police conducted raids and arrested 10 men in connection with the bomb attack. However, the police still fear that the accomplices of the terror offense are still at large after the raids revealed stash of explosive chemicals and materials.
The third-year anniversary celebration of Thailand Coup was met with bomb explosions that injured 24 people, three of which were critical. The explosion happened in in the dispensary waiting room of Phra Mongkutklao Hospital, on May 22, 2017. The same pipe bomb explosion took place in front of Bangkok’s National Theater on May 15 and near the Government Lottery Office on April 15. Both explosions wounded two people. No one has claimed responsibility of the attacks. The authorities are conducting investigation about the series of explosions.
The island of Mindanao was put into Martial Law after the terrorist group, Maute, has invaded the streets of Marawi on Tuesday, May 23. The group have burned buildings and took hostages. These prompted residents to flee from their homes and sought refuge to neighboring cities.
