Stay Ahead of the Curve With 5 New SEO Trends

SEO is an ever-changing labyrinth of rules, trends, and chaos. When thinking about Search Engine Optimization, one of the best ways to describe it is by comparing it to the New York Stock Exchange. Nobody has a definitive answer to how it works, anybody who claims they do is fooling themselves. The similarities between SEO and Wall Street continue with this one fundamental rule: By the time you read about it, it's already too late. 

How does this axiom apply to SEO? If somebody claims they cracked the code of perfect SEO, one of two things will likely happen as a result:

- Your competitors try to jump on the bandwagon.

- The rules to SEO change, people claim SEO is dead under the changes, mass panic ensues, etc.

Playing the SEO game with a reactionary approach is a losing battle, if you truly want your site to rank high on Google and other search engines, the best strategy is anticipation through current trends. Rather than adapting based off expert opinions, predicting the future of SEO offers the best chance of creating an optimized site.

Luckily for those of us who aren't experts in SEO, there are plenty of formidable experts who make calculated predictions on the future of SEO. One of our favorites are the guys at SumAll, they write awesome posts that break down SEO trends in basic, understandable language. They recently published an awesome guide for getting prepared for possible SEO changes for 2015. Notable tips they bring up are an increasing importance of optimizing your site for mobile and writing with a conversational tone.

A critical point SumAll stresses in their article is the nature of SEO. Every time major changes are made to the SEO algorithm, critiques are quick to toll the death knell for Search Engine Optimization. We agree wholeheartedly with SumAll when they say "it's the strategy that dies and not SEO itself." As Google continues to adapt their SEO algorithms, sure it will become increasingly difficult to play the optimization game, but as long as page rankings are determined by a formula, there will always be a solution to said formula, it just won't be as cut and dry as before.
